Westville Rotary Club brings in the green

More than 100 golfers teed off to raise funds for the Rotary Club of Westville last week.

THE Rotary Club of Westville raised a whopping R70 000 at its annual golf day fund-raiser on Friday, 24 May at the Kloof Country Club.

“This was our 39th Anniversary event and we certainly made it the best golf day ever,” said the club’s secretary/treasurer, Chris Owen.

The Rotary Club of Westville has a growing number of charities in desperate need of funds and every cent raised at the event will help to cover their needs.

“This year, the Rotary Club of Westville again held this joint fund-raising golf day with Kingsmead Mynahs, who do an enormous amount of work in developing and promoting young cricketers in our region,” said Chris.

Added to his other club duties, Chris was also the coordinator of the Golf Day and worked tirelessly behind the scenes and on the day to ensure the event was a success.

“We would like to thank the sponsors, fellow Rotarians, Chris Owen and Geoff Shepstone of Kingsmead Mynahs, for their hard work,” said the Rotary Club of Westville’s incoming president, Sue Walker.

“Without the sponsors and support of the players, this day would not have been the success that it was.”
