Campfire talks with Kingsley Holgate

The world renowned humanitarian, Kingsley Holgate, will host a talk in Kloof in mid June.

AVID environmentalist and humanitarian, Kingsley Holgate, will host the Campfire Tales with Kingsley presentation from 6pm at the St Agnes Church in Kloof on Thursday, 13 June.

Kingsley was born into a missionary family and went on many missionary journeys with his parents into the wilds of Africa. These planted the seeds for Kingsley’s own epic journeys of discovery.

He has completed more than 30 journeys of exploration that include world firsts, from an expedition that traversed the entire outline of Africa through 33 countries in 449 days to a south to north journey from the Cape to Alexandria.

Kingsley then completed an east to west crossing along the Zambezi and Congo Rivers in the footsteps of Livingstone and Stanely during the years of the civil war in Angola and the DRC. He followed the Tropic of Capricorn around the world and spent a year sailing an Arab dhow up the east coast of Africa.

Kingsley has a deep need to give back to the people of Africa and he was determined to make a difference. With the motto, ‘Using adventure to save and improve lives’, the Kingsley Holgate Foundation was formed, with the humanitarian initiatives of malaria prevention, water purification, and Rite to Sight spectacles for the poor-sighted.

The foundation has touched more than one million lives. Tickets are available at Computicket and cost R120 per person.
