Headway-Natal extends its treasure trove

The expanded charity shop at Headway-Natal in Westville is filled with wonderful pre-loved goodies.

SHOULD you go down to Headway-Natal today, you’re in for a big surprise. Its charity shop is bigger than ever, believe it – we tell no lies!

Supporters of the organisation, who have frequented the shop before, will be thoroughly impressed at what an extra room has done for the store. There is now a place for everything and everything is in its place. Each item now has recently completed an extension of its charity shop.

“We wanted to amalgamate the store into one specific area as the books and clothing used to be all over the organisation,” said Headway-Natal’s manager, Colleen Marais. “Before, everything in the store was so cluttered. The shop is also a lot more spacious now!”

The delightful shop is filled with pre-owned treasures, from crockery and linen to books, clothing and jewellery. The items range in price from 50c, upwards.

“We are in particular need of clothing, kitchenware and linen. Our best-sellers in the store,” said Colleen.

The much-needed renovation was made possible by funding from donors and is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 1pm.

With the added space, the NPO plans to add a special section dedicated to items made by its members during occupational therapy sessions.

“I think with the additional space it gives us the opportunity to display the items more selectively. It was such a jumble up before and it wasn’t very easy to see all of the lovely things we had on sale. Now, we can exhibit each item as it deserves,” said Colleen.

Volunteers can also apply to help sort the donated goods as well as work in the shop.
