Help make a difference with Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association

If you care for the environment and have some spare time on your hands, consider volunteering with the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association.

THE Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association wants you to join its ranks and help continue its legacy to create a cleaner, more beautiful neighbourhood.

The local non-profit organisation has, for the past 13 years, continued to work hard to maintain standards of cleanliness and tidiness in the sleepy village.

“Our committee members are now ageing (one woman is 91 years old) and there is a real danger of having to cease to operate this valuable service to the community if we do not have new volunteers come forward,” said the KHBA’s Marge Mitchell.

“We need male or female volunteers who are as passionate about keeping this worthy NPO going as the present members are,” she said.

Its volunteers tackle issues such as littering, graffiti, invasive alien plants, illegal signage, and try to promote beautiful verges.

“With the capacity for service delivery stretched to the limit in many parts of eThekwini, our KHBA volunteers do what they can to assist the municipality in maintaining Hillcrest as an attractive and appealing destination,” said Marge.

The organisation is also socially concerned and provides employment through its projects to alleviate, to a small extent, poverty in the greater Upper Highway area.
