Drug dealers arrested in Westville home raid

The men were caught with more than R250 000 worth of uncut cocaine, rock cocaine and ecstasy tablets.

POLICE officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit nabbed two drug dealers in Birdhurst Road, Westville yesterday.

The intelligence-driven operation was conducted with the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, the K9 Currency Unit and the Crime Intelligence Unit.

Officers caught the two suspects while they were packaging drugs for distribution.

Police seized pure uncut cocaine, rock cocaine and ecstasy tablets with an estimated value of more than R250 000.

The suspects, aged 33 and 35, were arrested for dealing in drugs and detained at the Westville police station.

Other operations were held in Margate and along the Point in Durban and more drug consignments were seized.

Cocaine powder and methcathanone were found on a vacant premises in Margate.

“Slopes of heroin were recovered in Point and the premises was already vacated on police arrival. The recovered drugs have a combined street value of more than R16 000,” said the KZN SAPS spokesman, Captain Nqobile Gwala.

The two suspects who were arrested in Westville will appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today.
