Kloof water problem continues to flow

The resident alleges the eThekwini Municipality told her to pay for and install pipes along her verge to alleviate the problem.

KLOOF resident, Melanie Lishman, faces the possibility of forking out thousands of Rands to repair a fault she believes should be covered by the eThekwini Municipality.

“My concern is that there is water coming down from somewhere outside of my property and it is washing away my driveway. They (the municipality) want me to purchase and install pipes on my verge to divert the water into the stormwater drain,” said Lishman.

“I understand if the water was flowing from my property it would be my responsibility, but I have contacted them on numerous occasions and all they have done is sucked out water from the stormwater drain. I am concerned that my driveway will sink in further,” she said.

The eThekwini Municipality did not respond to questions by the time of going to print.
