Your help is needed to grow Queensburgh Rugby Club

2019 is set to be a year of great things for Queensburgh Rugby Club.

QUEENSBURGH Junior Rugby Club has been a flurry of activity with events and building improvements.

The club is building a ladies bathroom and there are a few other upgrades needed to help it function well including a braai area and garden.

“At the moment we have only generated half of what we need to finish the bathrooms so we are still slightly behind,” said Jan van Biljon, a member of the club.

“The builder has been so generous in allowing us to pay off the balance, but we would like to clear the debt as soon as possible, which is why we have planned many functions.”

Van Biljon explained that the fund-raising is also to help the club offer facilities to many children who would love to participate in sport, but cannot afford annual subs at more expensive sports clubs.

“With this in mind, we would love to generate enough funds to allow players to play rugby at the club.”

He added that the club had extended itself to the point where it now also offered facilities for adult soccer to be played and would soon be starting soccer for juniors as well as an outreach to disadvantaged children to allow them to participate in sports.

“We are also looking to branch out into other sports. We are starting a bicycle racing club and many other disciplines, but unfortunately, these all need financial help to get off the ground,” said van Biljon.

“Right now we are starting from the ground up, but we hope someday to become something great in our community.”
