Kearsney players dominate the court

Many of the Kearsney vs Clifton games were cancelled due to inclement weather.

Cricket
The U15 Momentum Friendship cricket match, held at the Chatsworth Oval, between hosts Chatsworth RPC and visitors Kearsney College, was a wonderful match played in great spirit.

In the T20 match, Kearsney won the toss and opted to bat first. Callum McKeown was the pick of the batsmen and he scored 43 off 49 balls. A large outfield mitigated against boundaries being scored throughout the day, and Kearsney scored 101/6 in its allotted 20 overs.

Chatsworth RPC fell 8 runs short in the chase and the Kearsney bowlers bowled a tight line and length throughout the Chatsworth innings. Dingalethu Gwarube was the pick of the Kearsney bowlers and he picked up 2/14 in his allotted four overs.

Squash
Twelve Kearsney squash players competed in the KZN Open in Westville at the weekend. Dale Young placed 4th, Reid Stuart 6th in the U19A Section and Saffin van Straaten was runner-up in the U19B section.

During the week, Kearsney squash players took on Michaelhouse: 1st team played to a 4 match each, 15 game draw; U16A team won 3 – 2 and U14A team lost 5 – 0.
Many of the Kearsney vs Clifton cricket, water polo and basketball fixtures were washed out over the weekend, due to rain and lightning.

Basketball

Kearsney hosted Clifton College on Saturday, with only the indoor games being played due to heavy rain. Kearsney started strongly and opened up a 17 – 8 lead after the first quarter’s play.
They continued to dominate the game, scored freely and played good defence to smother Clifton’s offence. Halftime saw the hosts accumulate a 20-point lead to be up 37 – 17.
Kearsney stepped up their game in the third quarter and scored 25 points to Clifton’s 9. By the end of the third quarter, Kearsney led 62 – 26.

Clifton played hard and never gave up during the fourth quarter. Kearsney had done enough to win the game by a comfortable margin of 85 – 40.
