Donate to help 1000 Hills children

The 1000 Hills Community Helpers aim to improve the lives of child-headed households, HIV/AIDS infected and affected children and adults through treatment, clinics, feeding schemes, counselling, home-based care, crèches and support groups.

THE 1000 Hills Community Helpers have set up pre-loved drop boxes after a three-year-old girl arrived at the centre wearing clothes that were too small for her.

With her granny taking care of her and no income to buy necessities, she is in desperate need of underwear and clothing. When she arrived at the centre, she was wearing a babygro.

The ‘pre-loved box’ began as an initiative for used stationery.  “We will gladly accept donations of any used clothing and shoes (from baby to adult sizes),” said Bronwen Odendal, who runs the Thuma Mina campaign that assists the centre.

To date, the centre has placed pre-loved drop boxes at Roseway Waldorf School in Alverstone, Philippe at Shambalala at the Mushroom Farm in Kassier Road, Hillcrest and at Maytime KwikSPAR.

The 1 000 Hills Community Helpers is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation. They are dedicated to helping the people of Inchanga, Fredville and surrounding areas. Their vision is to improve the lives of child-headed households, HIV/AIDS infected and affected children and adults through treatment, clinics, feeding schemes, counselling, home-based care, crèches and support groups.

“Another campaign close to my heart is Meals-on-Wheels. The trailer will afford the centre the opportunity to assist the very sick, crippled and elderly community members in the Valley of 1 000 Hills,” said Odendal.
