Refuse bags left abandoned at Glen Park station
Ward 18 councillor, Melanie Brauteseth, said the matter has been brought to her attention and is dealing with the relevant department.
THE Glen Park station has come under the spotlight again, this time for the piles of bags filled with garden refuse which have been abandoned on the property for almost two months.
Dead branches hanging over the fence is what grabs your attention as you approach this station.
Resident, Sharman Collins, said they have made many attempts in recent years to get someone to clean the station as it attracts criminal elements into the area.
According to Collins, some workers did come through to cut the grass, however, the work was incomplete and to make it worse, they left big piles of black bags all over the place.

“This is untidy and unacceptable, now people are also adding to this mess by throwing their rubbish there. I am so concerned as this is a health hazard for the commuters and us residents,” she said.
“This station is dangerous and even commuters resort to waiting on the road for the train as they fear for their lives,” added Collins.
Ward 18 councillor, Melanie Brauteseth, said the matter has been brought to her attention and she will be contacting the department responsible for picking up those bags.
“It is unacceptable that bags with refuse can be left lying around for almost two months. I will make sure that the matter is sorted,” she said.
