Men arrested after failed house robbery in Westville

The suspects aged 39 and 40 were arrested and taken to Westville SAPS on charges of housebreaking and theft.

TWO men have been arrested after they attempted to rob a home in Elston Road, Westville.

Westville SAPS communications officer, Cpt Elizabeth Squires said the domestic worker at the residence heard a loud bang and realised the window had been smashed. The incident occurred around 11am today.

She managed to call her employer who immediately called a private security company.

“The security company called the Westville SAPS for assistance and on arrival at the said address the members saw the lounge window had been broken,” said Squires.

The two suspects were apprehended in the house.

The suspects aged 39 and 40 were arrested and taken to Westville SAPS on charges of housebreaking and theft.

“Well done to the security company, Cst Nkosinathi Dlamini, Cst Sandile Cele and Cst Wynand Laatz for their swift response and arresting the suspect,” said Squires.

Station Commander, Col Zwelakhe Zondi welcomed this arrest and commended the members for the arrest.
