Policeman critically injured in New Germany crash

The driver was found to be in a critical condition and Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man on the scene.

A POLICEMAN in his 30s is in a critical condition following a collision on Otto Volek Road in New Germany on Wednesday evening, 21 November.

According to Rescue Care Paramedic Garrith Jamieson the badly damaged vehicle collided with a truck.

“The driver was found to be in a critical condition and Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the man on the scene,” he said.

Jamieson confirmed that the policeman, stationed at Pinetown SAPS, was driving a marked vehicle at the time of the incident.

The driver was placed on a manual ventilator on the scene before being rushed to hospital, he said.

At this stage the events leading up to the collision are unknown.

SAPS will be investigating.
