Great new wheels for Jes Foord Foundation

The bakkie was donated by Ugo and Favio Surian's family who read about the foundation's plea in the newspaper.

THE Jes Foord Foundation will now be able to reach out to more communities with a vehicle that was recently donated to the organisation.

The Jes Foord Foundation offers free trauma counselling for survivors of rape and sexual assault, as well as to family and loved ones affected by the trauma.

The bakkie was donated by Ugo and Favio Surian’s family.

The vehicle was no longer needed by the family but it required some attention. With help from Mike Chisolm from Miclin and Darryl Coleman from Darryl’s Mechnical, the foundation was able to get the vehicle mobile again.

“The funds raised by our Tina La Roux just put the cherry on the top for this project as it gave us the money to get everything done from registering the vehicle onto our name, the cost of motor parts, panel beating and bin lining.

“We are now ready to take our awareness project even further than we did last year,” said Jes Foord, founder of the organisation.

She said she would like to thank everyone that made this gifting possible.

“It all started with a school talk I did at Clifton High School a few years ago and Favio Surian was in the audience. So when he read the article in the newspaper he suggested to his dad to consider donating the bakkie to the foundation.

“With this donation, together with the funds that Tina Le Roux had raised from her GoGetFunding campaign, and so many wonderful people in our province it has made it possible for us to now get ourselves on the road. Thank you to everyone that made this possible, we appreciate you all,” she said.

Foord added, “It’s because of so many special people that we now have a vehicle to ensure that we can reach so many more learners with our awareness campaigns.”
