One ale of a donation for SPCA

The third Ales for Tails fund-raiser raised more than R60 000 for the local animal welfare organisation.

THE popular Ales For Tails fund-raiser accumulated a donation amount of R63 454.82 for the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

The third edition of the event was held at the NPO’s premises on a beautiful winter’s day where loads of fun was had by all ages of the two- and four-legged crowd.

Murray Straker, Dave Harrison and Rob Watson took first, second and third places respectively in the homebrew awards.

Excellent entertainment was sponsored by some of Durban’s most talented musicians including The Lion and The Bear, Andrew Makins, Tanner Wareham, The Name On The Drum and Roarke Angelbright.

A variety of KZN breweries also donated beer for a raffle and Robin Gray Dyer was the lucky winner.

The event organiser, Warren Eades, and the Kloof and Highway SPCA staff thanked the members of the Durban Homebrewers who again donated all money raised from the sale of beer on the day.

“This was the first year the event was held without a sponsor, but there was enormous support from a variety of local businesses which helped make the festival possible,” said Warren.
