Mazarat Rescue needs your help

In-kind and monetary donations are needed to ensure the upgrade and revamp is completed timeously.

THE upgrade to the Mazarat Animal Rescue in Waterfall is well underway but needs more help to reach completion.

Spokesman, Carla Raaths, said the rebuild of the rescue kennels and centre has come along slowly due to work being done as and when the funding was obtained. She said work has, however, been halted due to lack of further funding.

“We’ve got the brick framework up five bricks high and partly laid the cement floor. Mazarat Animal Rescue has been so grateful for the support and donations and for the help of Handyman DBN, BuildIt Pinetown and BuildIt Bothas Hill.

“But, for us to complete the rescue kennels and centre, we desperately need more funds to pay for labour and more building supplies. We also need transport for the donated building blocks to be transported from the warehouse to the kennels.

To continue construction the organisation still needs:

60 pockets x50kg black cement

6 cubic metres of 20mm stone

6 cubic metres rough Umgeni sand

6 cubic metres building sand

2 cubic metres plastering sand

To create secure, partitioned, rescue kennels, the organistion needs:

48 of 2.4 metre – 40 x 40 galvanized poles,

72 metre – 1.4 metre x 2.0 metre good fencing

50 metre x 2 metre – 40 x 40 fencing for top ceiling.

Other needs include: lighting, cables, fittings, a fuse box, cables, plumbing pipes and fittings, a toilet, cistern, basin and pedestal.

The committee and volunteers remain positive and should they receive the support, donations and supplies, can expect the upgrade to be completed in roughly six months.
