Home-made gun recovered in Hillcrest

In a separate incident, police busted a hydroponic dagga lab in Westville.

THE Hillcrest Crime Prevention members recently received information with regards to a premises in KwaNgcolosi housing an unlicensed firearm.

At around 1am, police went to an address pointed out to them.

On entering the house it was established that the suspect had already fled.

Police searched the house and recovered a home-made gun.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Capt Linzi Smith, said they welcome such recoveries as most serious related cases involve the use of firearms.

 

Voluntary surrendering of firearms

HILLCREST residents who wish to voluntarily surrender their firearms can contact W/O Engelbrecht on 031 765 9109 (office hours only) to set up a convenient appointment time and date to do so.

Engelbrecht will advise the gun owners on what supporting documents will be necessary to bring with them to speed up the process.

Otherwise the Community Service Centre is operational 24 hours a day also to assist in this regard.

 

Hydroponic dagga lab busted in Westville

The members from the eThekwini Inner and Outer West Cluster narcotics team, together with Crime Intelligence, bust a hydroponic dagga lab in Westville on Thursday, 2 August.

More than 50 dagga plants were recovered by police in an upmarket house in Westville and two suspects aged 19 and 42 were arrested in connection with the discovery.

Police swooped on the duo in the early hours of Thursday morning and found the dagga planted in three bedrooms in the house.
