Golden victory for Alex

Alexandra hopes to claim the top spot in her category before the year is out.

LOCAL rider, Alexandra Ric-Hansen, recently competed in the FEI Children’s Classic Gold Tour in Johannesburg and won.

The event is open to children between 12 to 14 years old and as Alex just recently celebrated her 12th birthday, she was the youngest.

Each competitor had to jump a height of 1.2 metres and has the option or competing on a pony or a horse. Alex opted to ride on a pony, My Irish Boy.

All competitors across the globe jump the same four courses and the top 16 then compete in the World Finals.

Last year’s competition was hosted in Beijing.

Alex is currently in fourth position globally and, as the competition is only halfway through, she hopes to grab the top spot. At present Alex is leading the SA Pony 110cm rankings.
