Reece grabs for 2020 Olympic dream

Kloof High School's SPAR Star of the Month - July 2018.

REECE Andersson is Kloof High School’s SPAR Star of the Month.

Reece is a Grade 12 learner and his passion for rock climbing shows through his achievements in the sport. In 2017, he took the seventh spot in both the bouldering and lead climbing sections in the KZN provincials. At nationals he snapped up 11th position in the lead climbing section.

To date he came sixth in the bouldering section and fourth in the lead climbing section at the KZN provincials. At nationals he came seventh in lead climbing and eighth in bouldering.

Despite having to cope with the increased stress that comes with being in matric, Reece’s climbing has continued to improve. He trains between six to 12 hours a week, depending on his academic commitments. He is also a scout and is busy working on receiving his Springbok scout badge.

After school, he will be putting in more time and resources into his climbing, as he would like to represent South Africa in the 2020 Olympics.
