Wanda aims, shoots and scores to fulfill his soccer dreams

Grade 5 learner, Wanda Nxumalo, was chosen as Westville Senior Primary School's SPAR Star of the Month.

WANDA Nxumalo, a Grade 5 learner at Westville Senior Primary School, has been chosen as the school’s SPAR Star of the Month after was selected as the recipient of the ‘Most Valuable Player of the Tournament’ award in the U11 age category at a recent WSPS soccer tour to Limpopo.

Wanda’s soccer coach, Yugendran Pillay, was thrilled with this achievement. He described Wanda as a strong, silent, midfield ‘general’ in the making who always plays his best for the benefit of his team.

Wanda’s favourite subject is Maths, and his favourite food is pizza. Wanda’s friends said he is funny, cheerful and a great friend. Other sports that he enjoys are rugby and swimming. Wanda’s role model is Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, whom he admires for his skill with the soccer ball.

Wanda has two older sisters who both attend Westville Girls’ High School. Their family pet is a German Shepherd named Nala. It is Wanda’s dream to be a professional soccer player one day, and to be a proud member of the national team of our great country, South Africa.
