Fulton’s new room ignites the senses

Thanks to donor support, Fulton School for the Deaf was able to open its sensory room recently.

LEARNERS at Fulton School for the Deaf celebrated the official opening of their new sensory room recently.

A designated sensory room area has long been a dream of the management of the school and the benefits of sensory play include increased emotional, language and cognitive development.

The specific needs of each learner using the area are taken into account and forms part of a holistic educational programme.

The sensory room is equipped with a range of stimuli such as lights and soft play toys to help the foundation phase learners develop and engage their senses through sensory processing and sensory integration.
