The 12 South African school teams renowned for their rugby pedigrees will participate during three play days: Thursday, 29 March, Saturday, 31 March and Monday, 2 April.

This year three local teams, Glenwood, Durban High School and Kearsney College will play against a diverse spread of tough teams from across the country including, HTS Middelburg, Welkom Gimnasium, Pretoria Boys’ High and Hoërskool Noord-Kaap (Kimberley); the Eastern Cape’s Dale College (King William’s Town), Queen’s College (Queenstown), Selborne College (East London) and Hoërskool Framesby (Port Elizabeth); together with HTS Drostdy from Worcester.

The festival provides spectators with solid, exciting running rugby and an opportunity to witness some of South Africa’s fledgling talent.

Many players from previous Kearsney festivals have become household names in Super and Currie Cup rugby, as well as Springbok and SA Sevens.

Where there is talent, there are also talent scouts and members of the KZN Rugby Union and Sharks’ Academy will be on the lookout for future players.
