Kearsney boys selected for provincial sports teams

Kearsney College announced the names of boys who have made provincial teams in basketball and golf.

FOUR players from Kearsney’s 1st basketball team have been selected as part of the unofficial KZN U18 schools team: Preston Barr, Ruben Darby, Levi DonJeany and Liam Turner.

Three boys were selected as part of the Coastal team: Rabasotho Lenkoe, Dillon Wimbush and Ayoola Morakinyo; and Max Hastings-Brown made the KZN U16 basketball team.

The basketball season has been a memorable one for Kearsney, reflecting how the school’s basketball programme has grown over the past few years.

Kearsney fields 18 teams every Saturday, and run a successful social league during the week with four senior teams.

The quality of teams has also improved with several having unbeaten seasons.

“The 1st team was unbeaten for 18 games and is probably the top basketball team in the country, having beaten all KZN schools at least once, as well as some of the strongest teams from outside the province. Kearsney’s U14A, U15A, U15B, U15C and the 4th teams were also unbeaten during the season,” said Sue Miles of Working Words.

Golf
Kearsney’s Hayden de Kock has been selected for the KZN Southern Coastal A golf side and Charlie Dell made B side.
Hayden is in Grade 11 and Charlie in Grade 12.
