Knife-wielding robber arrested in Hillcrest

The robbers removed a window pane to gain access to the store along Inanda Road.

A BLUE Security armed response officer arrested an armed robber who broke into a business premises in Hillcrest this morning (Monday, 26 February).

The company’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said the officer responded to the scene of a business burglary in Inanda Road just as the gang of three robbers were attempting to flee with the stolen goods. The incident occurred at about 4am.

“The officer noticed three men carrying stolen goods along the railway line and gave chase with two additional officers. The robbers were cornered near the taxi rank and became aggressive, pulling out their knives. The officer arrested one of the men and took him back to the business premises,” Mathios said.

A stolen cash register was recovered and handed back to the owner. The robbers gained entry to the business by removing a window pane.
