Resident suspects Summerveld dog was killed for ‘sport’

A Summerveld resident is pleading for information on Cane, a dog that has been missing since January.

SUMMERVELD resident, Karin Voigt, is pleading for any information on a dog named Cane who has been missing since Wednesday, 10 January.

Cane, who was living in the sugar cane fields for nearly a year, was looked after by residents in the area.

Voigt said Hillcrest private investigator, Brad Nathanson, is investigating the matter and they will not rest until the perpetrators are apprehended.

According to Voigt,  Nathanson has had some leads to suggest that Cane may have been killed for sport.

“Should that be the real case, please, I am urging the public to come forward with any information with regards to this inhumane way that someone has taken it upon himself/herself to end the life of an innocent animal that had every right to live. I cannot understand  how anyone could or even would dare to do this act. How barbaric this person must be,” she said.

Voigt pleaded with the public to please assist until the person has been caught.

Nathanson said he has not found anything concrete, “It remains, for now, a mystery to us.”

Anyone who has information can contact Brad Nathanson on 083 250 2007.

A pool of blood was found next to Cane’s bed.
