Fabulous reads – Horowitz comes alive in murder mystery

Book review - The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz.

The Word is Murder, Anthony Horowitz, Penguin Random House, ISBN: 9781780896854

HOROWITZ has mixed things up a bit with his latest crime fiction novel and readers, including myself, are loving the shake up!

He is a renowned author and screen writer and for good reason, his brilliance in crime writing is spectacular. So great in fact that he was approached for the first ever Sherlock Holmes novel.

Our author has gone out on a limb and cast himself as a main character – and it works. Horowitz is playing himself in this novel of murder and mayhem. Hawthorne, a retired detective, is investigating the murder of wealthy middle aged Diana Cowper, who was strangled in her home.

ALSO READ: A haunting story, yet inspirational

The plot becomes a little thicker when it is uncovered, the murder occurred just hours after she planned her own funeral. Hawthorne asks fictional Horowitz to write about said investigation and thus we have a fine string of connections and brilliant plot for a novel.

It is a superbly written book that is filled with twists and turns. A definite must-read!
