The Grade R graduates celebrate in style

Early Childhood Development prepares children mentally and academically for primary and high school.

THE Department of Social Development together with Creche Associations in Pinetown hosted a combined Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre graduation ceremony on Thursday, 23 November.

Principals, parents and children from crechés of the Nanda Dam Association (Nqetho, Ngcolosi and Embo) and Botha’s Hill Association gathered at the Pinetown Civic Hall for the special ceremony.

The Department of Education officials were also part of the ceremony and the children looked elegant.

Smiley Kidz principal and committee member of the Inanda Dam Association, Busi Dladla, said these annual graduations aim to show parents the progress the children have made throughout the year.

“Children learn so much at créches and need to be developed at an early age. At these graduations, children sing, recite poems and dance for the guests,” said Dlalda.

She said it is important for parents to enroll children at créches before they start big school as they have a curriculum from the Education Department that guides them.

They also train the teachers and have programmes for children as young as six months old.
