Taxi driver killed in Hillcrest accident

The man sustained several serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

A TAXI driver was killed last night (Tuesday, 21 November) when he lost control of the taxi on the M13, near the N3 and went down an embankment.

The taxi was found lying at the bottom of the embankment, in Hillcrest.

“Paramedics made their way to the vehicle, where they found a man lying trapped in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The man was assessed and found to have sustained several serious injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead,” said ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring.

Fire services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the deceased man from the vehicle.
