Sink your teeth into Sharks’ Trail Adventure

Lace up for a family day out at the Stihl Sharks Trail Adventure during the first weekend of the December school holidays.

AS the school calendar turns to end-of-year exams, many families are looking forward to the holidays, and entries for the Stihl Sharks Trail Adventure at the Summerveld Estate on Sunday, 3 December have started picking up.

Timed to coincide with the first weekend of the holidays, the day is centered around families eager to take part in mountain bikes races or trail runs, and then relax in the historic shady park and enjoy the many attractions on offer.

The event was started as a MTB race and it now incorporates a 10km family fun ride, a 20km and a 40km MTB track and the popular 9km and 18km trail run.

The day is built around the Cell C Sharks and many members of the squad, who are not committed to the Springboks end-of-year tour, will be on hand at the start and finish of the events to meet their fans and help out with medals and water points.

The players will also be involved in the short Sharkie fun ride where youngsters get to ride their bikes with the Cell C Sharks mascot, Sharkie.

Once the sporting fun is over, families can relax in the famous estate and enjoy the wide variety of food and drink while live music adds a festive vibe to the occasion. With Christmas around the corner, the special Sunday staging of the popular Shongweni Farmers Market will provide a wide range of stalls offering crafts and gifts.

Families are invited to bring their own food and braais and relax in the shade of the plane trees, while meeting the Cell C Sharks’ players.

Entries are already open through ROAG at www.roag.co.za and online entries close at noon on Wednesday, 29 November. There is also a 15 per cent family discount available to families that have four or more entries.
