Jessica pivots towards sports dream

Forest View Primary School has chosen Grade 7 learner, Jessica Peattie, as its SPAR Star of the Month.

FOREST View Primary School has chosen Grade 7 learner, Jessica Peattie, as its SPAR Star for October for her selection to represent KZN Midlands Netball League touring in 2018.

Jessica is in the U14 squad for the KZN Midlands Action Netball team.

Her team will take part in a National Inter Provincial Tournament in Edenvale in March and April 2018.

Action netball is an affiliated member of Netball South Africa.

Jessica started playing action (indoor) netball in Johannesburg when she was eight years old and played for fun with her cousins.

Her talent for netball was soon realised and she joined a club in Johannesburg.

Both Jessica’s mom, Lorraine, and her sister, assisted the girls running CJ’s Netball clinic.

Jessica tried out for the Super League U12 team in 2015, even though her team was younger than the other teams.

They played outstanding netball and with the natural talent and good coaching they had received, finished fourth overall in Gauteng.

The Peattie family relocated to KZN.

Jessica started at Forest View Primary School in 2016.

This was challenging for her as she had no friends when she began her Grade 6 year, but a challenge does not stop Jessica.

With her outgoing personality and friendly nature, she fitted in and made friends quickly and Forest View Primary School became her home.

“Jessica started playing action netball with me and an adult team just because she loves it so much,” said Lorraine Peattie.

Currently in her Grade 7 year at school, Jessica still finds time to play in a fun league every Monday at Pro Kids Sports Academy.

Every second Tuesday she trains in PMB for the Midlands League.

She also loves to swim and was Victrix Ludorum at Forest View for the swimming season this year.

She was awarded a Sports Scholarship to Hillcrest High School next year.

Forest View Primary wished Jessica well in her final exams in primary school and all the best for high school.
