Orange recycling bag programme affected by Durban storm

MPACT's recycling plant was severely damaged during the recent storms and cannot accept orange and clear recycling bags from contractors and collectors.

THE Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit (DSW) would like to inform residents that the Kerbside Recycling programme known as the orange recycling bag programme, is temporarily closed due to damage to the recycling plant.

The DSW’s recycling partner, MPACT was severely damaged during the recent storms and cannot accept orange and clear recycling bags from contractors and collectors.

According to MPACT, they are not in a position to accept any orange bags until repairs are completed.

Repairs may take up to four weeks to be completed.

“Due to these challenges, DSW would like to request all residents to keep their recyclables in their orange and clear bags in their homes or yards until further notice,” said eThekwini Municipality head of communications unit, Tozi Mthethwa.
