Brick by brick, build a shop of hope

By purchasing a brick, a sticker, magnet, book or making a donation, you can help the Woza Moya in Hillcrest's dreams become a reality.

Help WOZA Moya’s dreams become a reality. The NGO’s Paula Thomson appeals to the Highway community to give generously to this worthy cause and explains why:

In 2010 a chair was taken out of a skip and given a second chance in life.

It was beaded and embedded with all of the dreams and hopes for the future of all the crafters of Woza Moya.

It had such an impact on all who came into contact with it that it was invited to travel the world, collecting dreams from everyone it met.

The chair encouraged people from all walks of life to dream again.

In 2014, a book of its travels and dreams was captured.

In the same year a private buyer purchased the chair for R850 000 and a further R250 000 was raised.

The money was earmarked to rebuild the Woza Moya shop, which is currently a converted garage and a temporary site office.

The need for a bigger, permanent shop with improved display is critical to the growth of Woza Moya and creating work for families in desperate need.

The shop currently supports 1 800 crafters and the shop’s role in the community is crucial. It has always been a safe place for crafters to grow and flourish and for many is the only income they receive.

We have a shortfall of R250 000 for the building and shop fittings and are asking for a bit of crowd funding to make up this shortfall.

If this is something close to your heart, there are various ways you can assist: purchase a brick, a sticker or magnet, buy a Dreams for Africa book, make a general donation no matter what the size as every bit will help.

Be a part of the Woza legacy.
