Search is on for Westville serial rapist

The alleged serial rapist preys on women looking for employment.

WESTVILLE police have confirmed they are searching for a serial rapist in the area.

Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer, said the investigations are of a sensitive and delicate nature and they would not want to compromise the case.

“At this time, the local community is not at risk from the offender and we decline to reveal any further information that could risk the possibility that an offense of this nature of a serial offender may change his modus operandus in any fashion, which will set back nearly a year of intensive profiling and investigation,” said Squires.

The information about the serial rapist was leaked on social media last Friday, 22 September after Reaction Unit South Africa was contacted by members of the Westville SAPS requesting aerial assistance in locating the alleged serial rapist who was believed to have been hiding between the M19 highway and Blair Atholl Road in Westville.

A woman was attacked near a petrol station near Westville Mall that Friday making it the alleged serial rapist’s latest incident.

It was reported that staff from the petrol station came to her aid and helped her get away.

The Reaction Unit South Africa Facebook post read: “The RUSA R44 helicopter lifted off from Verulam and assisted policemen with an aerial search of a dense bush on either side of the highway which yielded no success. The suspect is believed to have fled into Clermont.”

The post also mentioned the man is being sought for raping approximately 20 women.

He was described as a young African man who is missing a front tooth and has a scar on his face.

He draws out his victims with promises of employment. He then allegedly travels with them by taxi in the direction of Westville and gets off along the M19, takes his victims along a foot path into a bush where he then rapes them.
