Fabulous reads – Duology’s finale is everything and more

Book review - Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo.

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2), Leigh Bardugo, Pan Macmillan, ISBN: 9781 7806 22316

SPOILERS

Crooked Kingdom picks up exactly where the previous novel left off. I can only thank my lucky stars that I had this book to read as I set down book one.

As a reader, I was left dangling on the edge of the tallest cliff. Leigh Bardugo is wonderfully cruel.

The Mercher who gave Kaz the mission betrayed him.

He wanted the prize all to himself. If money talks, then in this case it was shouting into a loudspeaker in a never ending cavern.

Greed is an ugly thing. It wasn’t being stabbed in the back that hurts Kaz the most, it was watching helplessly as Inej was taken as a prisoner.

Kaz is forced into hiding as he formulates a counter-attack to get back his Wraith, claim the gold he was promised and serve a slice of revenge to those who had wronged him.

This novel moves at a breakneck speed with some of the most superb writing I have ever come across.

Her descriptions are vivid and add to the story rather than hamper its speed.

Each of her characters could easily have their own book, that is how deep their story archs go.

They are imperfectly perfect in every way. – Lloyd Mackenzie
