Knife-wielding man arrested following attempted mugging

The man was arrested by a Blue Security response officer after a resident alerted the call centre.

ONE of the three men who tried to rob a man of his cellphone in Acacia Road, Caversham Glen was arrested by a Blue Security response officer, yesterday (11 September).

Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios said three men attempted to rob a man who was walking to work along Acacia Road at around 6am.

“The robbers held up the victim at knife-point and tried to rob him of his cellphone. The man threw his cellphone over the wall of a nearby property, and the homeowner then alerted our control centre,” said Mathios.

“Our officers responded swiftly and tracked down and arrested one of the men.”

The two men are still at large and Pinetown police attended the scene of the crime.
