Pauline lives her life in colours

The 44-year-old Hillary resident said she is emotionally expressive through colour.

PAULINE Vincent uses painting not only to brighten up people’s lives, but to get through hardships in her life herself.

This 44-year-old Hillary resident, and self-confessed Jesus freak, said she loves colour and is emotionally expressive through colour.

“Often I would cry and paint, put on some music and paint some more,” she said.

She is an unconventional painter, “I break the rules of painting, mix colours that don’t usually work together, and set free my brush strokes,” she said

Pauline believes painting is a ministry God has blessed her with, which is why she can make and break some rules as it comes naturally to her.

She recently started focusing on face-painting as a way to generate an income with her company, Sweetpea Face painting.

“I love working with children and see them get excited about creating their own colours and the smiles on their faces make me happy,” she said.

For a while she stopped doing art and said the face-painting ignited her passion and pushed her to start painting pictures again.

Pauline is a proud ‘burgh girl’, born and bred in the Queensburgh area.

The colourful, God fearing Pauline comes from a small family, with most extended family members living in a different city or overseas.

She gets great support from her family who buy most of her art pieces and sometimes even sponsor her paint and equipment.

What she loves most about her neighbourhood is that ”there is a church on every corner”.

One of Pauline’s biggest wish is to see the return of the Queensburgh Festival of Arts.

“I would love to see that again, there are many hidden artists in this area,” she said.

Apart from paint, canvas and brushes, Pauline loves chocolate brownies, exercising, making mosaic crosses, arm bracelets and other crafts.

In the recent months she has exhibited her work and talent at the Church On the Move flea markets which she is very grateful for as it has got her out to be part of the community again.
