Malvern potholes could cost state more than R400 000

The woman claimed the governments negligence resulted in the accident as her child hit a pothole and injured himself.

ACCORDING to newspaper reports, a mother is taking the KwaZulu-Natal premier and MEC for Transport to court after her teenage son was injured in a cycling accident in Malvern.

The woman claimed the government’s negligence  resulted in the accident as her child hit a pothole and injured himself.

Both the KZN office of the Premier and the Department of Transport confirmed that the matter is in court.

KZN DOT spokesperson, Mluleki Mntungwa said, “We are unable to comment regarding this matter as it is before the courts.”

According to reports, the woman was claiming R402 649.71, for past and future medical expenses.
