Business robber sentenced to 30 years in jail

Njabulo Jingel was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for two business robberies he committed in August 2014.

JUSTICE was served when 25-year-old Njabulo Jingela was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 26 April.

Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, KZN SAPS spokesperson, said Jingel was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for two business robberies he committed in August 2014.

“A cashier was on duty at the Pep store in Pinetown on 21 August 2014 at approximately 12.15pm when she was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by two armed suspects. A case of business robbery was opened at Pinetown police station for investigation,” said Mbhele.

She added that the same store was also robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by two armed suspects on 26 August 2014 and another case of business robbery was opened at Pinetown police station for investigation.

“An intensive investigation by the Pinetown Cluster Trio Task Team led to the arrest of the accused, who was charged for both cases. The accused made several appearances in court until he was finally convicted and sentenced. Both sentences will run concurrently,” said Mbhele.

KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa welcomed the sentence handed down to the accused and applauded the investigative team for their good work and determination in solving the case.
