Robin Hood Foundation gives hope to children in need

The children were given food, school items and they also played games with the Buckman staff.

THE Robin Hood Foundation (RHF) spread hope among the children from Shongweni and Ntshongweni communities on Friday, 24 March when they were given school uniforms and other necessities.

The afternoon was sponsored by Buckman Laboratories based in Hammarsdale for their National Buckman Cares Day and the event was hosted at the Pot and Kettle in Botha’s Hill.

RHF has been running the HOPE project for the past five years and its aim is to inspire hope in the lives of the young children, aged five to 17, who have suffered the devastating loss of parents in their young lives and are now being cared for by an older sibling, aunt, neighbour or aging gogos.

Cindy Norcott, founder and chairman of The Robin Hood Foundation said their goal for these projects is to treat each child to a wonderful few hours of play, interaction and a meal and then bless them with necessities that they do not have the money to buy such as uniforms, stationery and food.

The children each received two new complkete school uniforms, a lunch boxe and juice bottle, a box filled with stationery, a blanket, towel-set, a facecloth, toiletries, a huge bag filled with non-perishable foods and a month’s supply of FutureLife porridge, donated by The Future Life Foundation.

They also received a new school bags sourced from Uzwelo Bags, a community initiative that takes waste fabric that normally goes into landfills and employ local communities to make the bags.

“We are incredibly grateful to The Pot and Kettle for their hospitality and to Buckman for their support and sponsorship of today’s project. The 30 orphaned and vulnerable children were abundantly blessed with everything they will need for their new term of school,” said Norcott.

Buckman deputy general manager, Jonathan Job said this was a global community engagement initiative.

“All around the world, Buckman is giving back to the community.”

Job said they chose to work with RHF as they have worked closely with them in the past and they are very good at helping underprivileged communities through their charity work.
