WATCH: Rescue teams work around the clock to free trapped worker
Emergency services are currently still on scene.
A DRAMATIC rescue is still unfolding in Kloof where a worker has been trapped in a trench under the foundation of a home.
According to Andreas Mathios of Blue TV, rescue workers fromMeditech ER 24 and Netcare 911 were called to the scene just after 2pm today.
The worker is trapped in a trench approximately four to five feet below ground.
“They were busy doing waterproofing on a building’s foundation when the embankment gave way and trapped the worker from his collar bone to his toes. He was solidly trapped,” said Mathios.
He noted the trench that the worker was in when it was filled with sand was underneath the foundation of the building.
“Rescuetech are on scene, under the command of Search and Rescue SAPS. They are coordinating a full blown rescue effort to get the trapped worker out,” he concluded.
