MEN and women in blue from eight stations in the eThekwini Inner and Outer West Cluster had a round table discussion recently to address issues which cause members of the SAPS to resort to violent acts at their homes.

This event was organised by the SAPS Employment Health and Wellness in partnership with the New Season Ministries Church in Pinetown.

The police were divided into groups where they shared their experiences and were counselled by a psychologist.

One of the psychologists advised the police to have general check ups, exercise regularly and check their stress levels.

Among issues discussed was the cause for police killing their wives, relatives, children and themselves.

New Season Ministries pastor, Lionel Frank said the event was the first of its kind and hopes that similar sessions will be held regularly.

General Major James also lit a candle in memory of those who died from AIDS. The event was also held to commemorate International Day of People Living with a Disability.

After the day’s activities, police were treated to lunch which was prepared by the church to were thanked for their selfless commitment to serving the community.
