Patients experience life under the sea

It was an exciting day for the patients of Hillcrest Government Hospital as they were treated to a tour through uShaka Sea World.

TWENTY FOUR of the patients from the Hillcrest Government Hospital were treated to a day outing and delicious eats at uShaka Sea World.

The wheelchair bound patients and six carers from the Hillcrest Government Hospital took part in the fun day which was sponsored by uShaka Sea World’s education department.

“They were kindly transported by the QuadPara Association to uShaka, where they spent a fun-filled morning watching the dolphin show and a visit to the aquarium. The uShaka education department ensured there were educational guides on hand and who, through their knowledge, made life under the sea come alive, especially in the aquarium,” said Anne Collinge, of the Enza keep fit class.

Stretta in Hillcrest supplied scrumptious pizzas and the Salisbury CafĂ© in Westville donated delicious chocolate brownies. The NPO, Enza, was instrumental in organising the year-end outing. The patients in the hospital very seldom get taken out of the hospital and one of the patients said it was definitely the highlight of the year. “This was for the 24 dedicated patients, who take part every second Wednesday in the Enza Shalom Wheelchair keep fit class, held at the Hillcrest Government Hospital,” said Anne.
