‘Westville is under siege’, say residents

Hundreds of Westville residents gathered at Atholl Heights Primary School to discuss a solution to end the high crime rate in the area.

WESTVILLE North residents filled the Atholl Heights Primary School hall last night following the murders in the area.

A moment of silence was observed to remember the six people who were murdered in Westville; Jongikhaya Phayiphi, Gordon Donaldson, Piere van Schalkwyk, Gary MacKay, Paresh Bodalia and Yashin Bagwandeen.

Residents expressed their concerns about the increase in crime and said they believe Westville is under siege. According to residents, their properties have lost a huge value and drastic measures need to be taken to reduce the escalating crime rate.
