Soar to new heights with uplifting poetry book

Local Hillcrest author and poet, Mqondisi Shozi will launch his latest poetry book next month.

LOCAL Hillcrest resident, Mqondisi Percy Shozi, will launch his second poetry book, Wings Of An Eagle, at a free event at the Hillcrest Library on Saturday, 26 November at 2.30pm.

Wings Of An Eagle is a collection of poems that focuses on topics such as finding faith, family, African roots, love, identity and vision. At the end of each chapter there is a space for personal reflections so readers can note how these topics relate to their own lives.

The creation of this book started in 2014 when Percy set himself a challenge to write a poem every day. Despite life being incredibly busy, he stuck to his challenge and often wake up at 4am or 5am to write.

“I grew up in KwaNyuswa in the Valley of 1 000 Hills and I have overcome significant challenges in my life. I write poetry because I want to encourage and motivate other young adults so that they can make right decisions in the future and turn around whatever life throws at them to make it work for their good,” said Mqondisi. “The poetry book will make a great Christmas gift for young adults looking to find their destiny or for those who need encouragement to get through life’s challenges.”

Wings Of An Eagle will be available for purchase at the launch event, or contact Mqondisi on 081 498 7802, via e-mail at mqshozi@gmail.com or 081 498 7802.
