Westville police officers retire

Colonel Brett Mitchell and Captain Rob Ponsie were honoured for their many years of community service.

WESTVILLE SAPS and Community Policing Forum thanked two heroes for their many years of service to the community.

Colonel Brett Mitchell and Captain Rob Ponsie are both reservist policemen that have served the Westville community for many years on a voluntary basis.

According to Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer at Westville SAPS, Colonel Mitchell has resigned for personal reasons as he moves into a new phase of his life and Captain Ponsie has also reached his retirement age.

“The Westville police station thanks these two members for the many years of service they have volunteered to the community. We salute you,” said Squires.

The Westville CPF and Westville SAPS paid homage to these member’s services at the CPF meeting on Tuesday, 16 August, and wished them both well as they move into this new chapter of their lives.
