Neighbourhood watch host largest bonfire in KZN

The event was organised by the Waterfall 3 Neighbourhood Watch committee to encourage members of the community to get to know each other.

THE Waterfall 3 Neighbourhood Watch kept up the 20-year tradition of a huge bonfire in Waterfall 3.

This tradition has been an annual event in the area for at least 20 years and this year, 500 people attended the event. This is the largest bonfire in KZN and people come from all over to experience this. Approximately 10 tons of wood was burnt on the night.

This function was organised by the Waterfall 3 committee to encourage members of the community to get to know each other. It is also the committee’s way to say thank you to all the members of the community for their ongoing support of the neighbourhood watch.

Watercrest Spur catered burgers and chips, Primo Grind kept all the party goers warm with coffee and children enjoyed Candy floss by Storm Jennings.

Blue Security provided security and also supplied a jumping castle for the children.

Superspar Watercrest sponsored hampers for the raffle and a R1000 meat hamper from Dirks Meat Market was sponsored by Remax properties.

Among the raffles, there were prizes from Link Hills Pharmacy, Dischem, LaVida Beauty Salon and Woodcutters Kloof.

A DJ kept everyone entertained with a wide variety of music and people danced the night away.

An incredible fire-spinning display by Pierre Retief was also part of the evening’s entertainment.

Waterfall 3 Neighbourhood Watch is one of the oldest established neighbourhood watches in KZN.

Many members volunteer their time in assisting with the conservancy projects in the surrounding areas as respect for the conservation and wildlife in this area is encouraged.
