Girl (3) goes missing on election day

The family received a call from an unknown number demanding R 10 000.

HILLCREST police are looking for information that could help them find a 3-year-old girl who went missing on Wednesday, 3 August.

Sinenhlanhla Ngubane was last seen playing with other children outside her home in Molweni.

Her father, Bongani Magubane, said when Sinenhlanhla disappeared, they received a call from a private number from somebody who demanded R 10 000 for the return of Sinenhlanhla.

“We have been waiting for more instructions from the ‘alleged kidnapper’ but we have not heard anything from him,” said Magubane.

Sinenhlanhla was last seen wearing pink shorts and a long sleeved blue t-shirt.

“We really have no idea who might have done this and we hope that Sinenhlanhla is safe wherever she is,” he said.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele, said police are investigating a case of kidnapping after the anonymous call.

“According to the information we have, Sinenhlanhla was following her brother who was going to the voting station when she disappeared.

“The brother was not aware that his sister followed him when he went to cast his vote,” said Manqele.

Anyone who may have information can contact Cst Ndumiso Manqele on 076 642 2056.
