EDITOR – Nobody even asks the question why our oh-so-friendly supermarkets are fobbing us off with chickens pumped up with 28 per cent water. Check the label.
Nor would you receive a reply if you did ask – just a smile and a reference to head office. We’re growing used to that, but are you aware that even minced beef is now being ‘watered down’? Check the label (so few do) and you’ll find it in the small print, beef: 70 per cent meat, water: 24 per cent. What is the six per cent? Best not to ask, I suppose.
But at least we now know where the water is going – we’re not drinking it, we’re eating it.
