VIDEO: The role of fathers commemorated
A local NGO held a Fathers' Day function to celebrate fathers and men in society.
HIGHWAY Aged on Wednesday, 15 June held a Fathers’ Day function to commemorate the role of fathers and men in society at large. The non-profit organisation provides professional social work services to the elderly in Pinetown and surrounding areas.
More than 100 senior citizens attended this event and were served snacks and lunch. The elderly also entertained with song, dance and some drama performances.
The senior citizen clubs that were present were St Wendolins, Savannah Park, Northdene and Sunshine.
Kevin Moodley, general manager at Highway Aged, said, “These programmes are conducted on an ongoing basis to ensure that the senior citizens indulge and enjoy these latter days of their lives.”
Moodley said as a welfare organisation they are committed to assist and build communities and uplift the standard of living. The organisation also engages in various fundraising functions through out the year to assist the organisation to remain operational.
