Students to raise awareness for CANSA

"Cancer has affected us individually and we want to be part of making a difference," Simone John.

SIX Public Relations second-year students from the Durban University of Technology will host a High Tea fundraising event for Cuppa for CANSA on Friday, 17 June. As part of their assignment, the students were to choose a non-profit organisation to work with, come up with a way to raise funds and contribute to its successes. The event will be held at the West Park School Hall from 6pm to 9pm and tickets are R150. Residents can support the event by buying tickets or sponsoring it.

“Cancer has affected us individually and we want to be part of making a difference. We want people to be aware of it and raise funds for CANSA which we think is doing an amazing job at giving people the support they need. We would like to see people supporting this event as it is for a worthy cause. And we just have an awesome evening planned,” said team leader, Simone John.

There will be musicians entertaining guests, including SA’s got talent contestant Sifiso Boo Tse who will perform pop music and poetry, as well as motivational speaker, Cathy Turner, who is an educator at New Forest High School, and Khanyisile Dladla. They are both survivors of cancer. There will also be dancers to entertain the audience, lucky draws and a prize give away.
