Final voter registration weekend

Ward 10 Councilllor, Rick Crouch, urged Highway residents to check their voter registration status this weekend.

THE last voter registration weekend for the upcoming local government elections is on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday 10 April.

According to Ward 10 councillor, Rick Crouch, it is the last opportunity for Highway residents to ensure that their details on the voter registration are complete and correct. “You must ensure that you are not only registered but that you are registered at the correct voting station and that your registration includes your residential address.

“Once the president declares the election date, the voters’ roll will close and you will no longer be able to register to vote, and that could come at any time after this weekend.

“Some IEC officials have stated that if your registration on record does not include your address you will not be issued a ballot on election day, we are trying to get a ruling on this. To be safe, I encourage everyone to go to their voting station and physically confirm that they are on the voters’ roll at that station and their registration information on record includes their address,” said Crouch.

The branch chair, Jeanne Middlebrook, and Rick Crouch are arranging for the IEC to visit old age homes and schools to register voters at those institutions. “If you are involved in those institutions within ward 10 (Kloof, Winston Park, Gillitts) and would like us to arrange this for your facility, please contact me by e-mail at councillor@ward10.co.za.” said Crouch.
